About Cinema in Marbella: the back story

With residents from all over the world, Marbella needs cinemas that speak many languages. Puerto Banús has long had the answer: a cinema known along the Costa del Sol for films in their original language with Spanish subtitles.

A cinema for the whole world

In Spain most films are dubbed into Spanish, so a cinema that shows them in their original language is a treasure, especially in a town with as many nationalities as Marbella. The cinema in Puerto Banús has filled that role for years. It was the Cine Gran Marbella until 2013, then the Cines Teatro Goya, and in February 2022 it became Red Dog Cinemas, part of the Red Dog Banús leisure complex on Avenida Julio Iglesias (andalucia.com). Today it is run by Odeon Multicines.

La Cañada

Across town, the cinema at the La Cañada shopping centre has been run by Kinépolis since November 2022. It has eight screens, all with VIP seats, and also shows live and recorded opera (kinepolis.es).

In Spain most films are dubbed, so a cinema that shows them in their original language is a treasure.

Summer cinema

In summer the town hall takes the cinema outdoors. In 2026 its Cine de Verano gave eight evening screenings across Marbella’s four districts between 3 July and 21 August, in parks, on the beach at La Salida in San Pedro and in school courtyards (marbella.es).

Our tips

Look for “VOSE” next to a film for the original language with Spanish subtitles. At Kinépolis, Wednesday is the cheaper cinema day. For the summer screenings, check the town hall’s agenda in late June, when the programme is published.
