Lago de las Tortugas
A turtle lake from 1890

About Lago de las Tortugas
The Lago de las Tortugas, once the Rincones reservoir, was built in 1890 to irrigate the sugar-cane and cereal fields of the old El Ángel farming colony. Set among Mediterranean woodland in Nueva Andalucía, it is now a peaceful spot for a walk or a picnic, named after the native Spanish terrapin that lives there. Kingfishers, herons and dragonflies are among the wildlife listed by the town. A pleasant pause from the golf valley.
