Casa del Corregidor
A Gothic-Mudéjar stone façade
About Casa del Corregidor
The Casa del Corregidor is one of the noblest buildings in the historic centre, on Plaza de los Naranjos. The corregidor represented the Crown in the town, ran its affairs and acted as a judge. The stone façade, with a pointed Gothic arch, plant decoration and an alfiz frame around the upper window, shows Hispano-Moorish influences, and some describe it as late Gothic-Mudéjar. It was originally a two-storey house, as the stone front still shows. Look up as you cross the square.
